Another Moscow: boutique of modern architecture

16:11:00

If you got tired of Moscow and want to teleport to a modern area of London or Berlin, you can easily do it! European architecture, English speech in the streets, lots of office workers with coffee in one hand and mobile phone in the other one. Where? Right in the center of Moscow!

Today we will talk about the area on Ostozhenka street and the lane nearby - Butikovsky pereulok. The name of the lane "Butikovsky" is a tranformed French word boutique, which in Russian language has the same meaning as in French and English. In my opinion, this name really suits the lane, as here you can see a “boutique” of luxury and very modern buildings.

The buildings here are products of famous architectures, who got numerous awards for this project. The project itself is called “Golden Mile”.

To be honest, streets seem to look quite empty. As this is a luxury area, so there are not so many businessmen who eager to buy or rent a place here. However, all the buildings are well-protected and you can see a bored guard almost every 10 meters.

From time to time you can see a group of very well-dressed women or men, who go to drink another cup of coffee. Some of them are foreigners, who work in the embassies. Ostozhenka street is famous for its stunning mansions, which recently have become a property of embassies. While enjoying the architecture and greenery, you can hear people speaking English or any other language which makes the atmosphere even more similar to Europe.

I actually really liked green buildings. Maybe that’s because they looked quite unusual for me and I haven’t seen anything like this in Russia.

Even though all this project looks quite stylish and discreet (in a good way), Muscovites don’t really enjoy it. I understand them: such massive buildings were built in the center of the city, where were many historical masterpieces. I won’t dare to judge who is right in this question, but I welcome you to visit this place if you want to see another Moscow.
